Art Therapy

Art Therapy combines the creative process and psychotherapy to help express feelings when there are no words, to learn about oneself in a different way,  and as a body-based approach to work with the effects of trauma. An Art Therapist is a professional who has a masters degree in Creative Arts Therapy and has been trained in both art and therapy. No art experience is necessary in order to benefit from art therapy.

Art Therapy & Expression

Many times we may not have the words to express what we are feeling or may not be clear about what is troubling us. Using various art materials and the creative process, we have the opportunity to learn about oneself in a different way. I will guide you in the process and teach you about the different materials. No art experience is necessary! Only an openness to explore!

Art Therapy & Mind/Body

Somatic art therapy can be used as a way to explore and release tension stored in the body. A trauma informed approach addresses the effects of trauma stored in the body and also provides ways to use the art process to regulate the body and emotions.

Art Therapy via Teletherapy

If you are interested in exploring art therapy via teletherapy, we will work together to figure out which supplies will be needed and where you can purchase the supplies, either online or a local art store. For art therapy, you will need access to the internet and a computer with a camera so we can connect throughDoxy.me website, which is a secure website and HIPAA compliant.
